Florence Schwartz passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family April 11, 2016 at the age of 89. Florence was dedicated to her family and cherished her husband, children, grandchildren and many friends during her long life in Chicago. She was a nuturing mother, knowledgeable business woman, and generous patron of charitable organizations as Hadassah, Keshet and Children’s Village of Jerusalem. Her warm embrace will be deeply missed. Florence lives on in the memories of her children Ben (Shellie) Schwartz, Steven (the late Wendy) Schwartz and Syndi (David) Salat, and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving wife to the late Milton Schwartz, admired mother, cherished grandmother, and sister who offered boundless compassion and encouragement. Florence grew up in Chicago with her parents Louis and Eva Kaplan and four older siblings. She met her husband Milt while shopping in his family’s store, Schwartz’s Intimate Apparel, and they sparked what became a fairy tale romance that blossomed for 67 years. Soon after they married she joined him in the family business. Florence continued to help manage Schwartz’s her entire life, sharing her knowledge of the business to benefit her customers, while keeping her loving attention focused on her growing family. The funeral service to remember Florence’s extraordinary life will be held at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 West Rand Road in Arlington Heights. In honor of Florence, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Hadassah, Keshet, Children’s Village of Jerusalem or Magen David Adom.
